Oldness

When I was born my dad bought my mum a small rhododendron.

It’s 36 years old today – well actually, I suppose it’s not…as it was already ‘small’ rather than ‘newborn’ when Dad bought it, but hopefully you get the idea.

It blooms every year on my birthday (weather permitting).  Pretty isn’t it?  :o)

I love flowers and plants for the memories they bring. When we get married we’re asking for flowers/plants/seeds for all of our wedding gifts. I love the idea of walking around the garden for years to come and saying ‘look, there’s Aunty Freda’s rose’! (Not that I actually have an Aunty Freda. But you get the idea …)

What a fantastic idea! Make sure that the really special things go in pots until you are in your ‘forever’ house. Mum and dad kept the rhododendron in a pot throughout three houses but didn’t with a very special tree…which there were tears over when mum had to leave it at the last house.
Also, I think you should adopt an Aunty Freda. I think it would suit you…

talk to me here , if you fancy :o)
